OKOLO OFFLINE TWO

Members of the design group Okolo are driven by the fascination for the object. This ambition turns them into collectors. They search the world of things with a keen feeling and introduce paradigmatic examples of design on their blog okoloweb.cz. This fascination is the starting point of the exhibition “OKOLO OFFLINE TWO” in the Museum of Decorative Arts.

  • DATES 03/09/2014—02/11/2014

Collecting is the centre of attention. Private collecting as well as that which takes place in the museum will be looked at and with regard to various topics introduced to the visitor. The exhibition’s title “OKOLO OFFLINE TWO” further indicates two more aspects: On the one hand, it points to the previous exhibition in Basel, which was refined for Dresden. On the other hand, it shows that the exhibition takes places online as well as offline. On a weekly basis, the presentation’s content will be complemented with an entry on okoloweb.cz and herewith made even more publicly accessible.

The design group Okolo was founded in Prague in 2009. The four initiators of the project, Adam Štěch, Jakub Štěch, Matěj Činčera and Jan Kloss, make design the topic of their discussion, develop concepts, publications, exhibitions, commission products, take up phenomena of our time, depict and communicate them. Central to their work is their blog. Over the years, it has become a still growing digital archive for design historic knowledge, contemporary positions and newly developed ideas. The blog is actively used and here Okolo’s continuous commitment in the areas of design, architecture, fashion and performing arts becomes visible.
